Health Technician
The Health Technician position is at the Department of Veterans Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC), located in Cumberland, MD.
The Health Technician will perform diagnostic test at the CBOC such as Electrocardiograms (EKG) and is responsible for administrative duties directly related to patient care and treatment.
o Uses database software to enter, revise, sort, and retrieve data for reports or review.
o Obtains all key information needed for walk in patients and initiates medical administrative processing of requests and forms.
o Assists in the orientation of physicians and other clinic personnel, serving as a source of information concerning regulations, policies and procedures.
o Schedules appointments, tests and coordinates all activities of the clinic area.
o Schedules appointments and generates appointment reminder letters for patients.
o Answers telephone inquiries regarding services available, procedures for enrollment, eligibility, copayments, etc.
, providing accurate and timely information.
o Maintains various records and files, administratively processes patient transactions, reviews records for maintenance and sequencing of forms, entries, etc.
o Assists in preparing exam rooms for procedures, procedures and exams.
o Performs electrocardiograms and the daily cleaning and routine maintenance of the equipment.
o Performs venipuncture (as appropriate) and instructs patients in the proper procedures for preparing for blood work, 24-hour urine collection and collection of specimens for culture and sensitivity.
o Maintains a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
o Initiates basic life support measures as needed.
o Performs other related duties as assigned.
DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION:
Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:
00am-4:
30pm.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
